We're glad you're here. We are women business owners — a community more than 10 million strong and counting, in which each individual is a pioneer, a trailblazer, an innovator, and a visionary.

monica smileyWelcome to this special issue of Enterprising Women commemorating our 15th Annual Enterprising Women of the Year Awards Celebration! We hosted our annual awards recognition program and conference the first week in April at the Ritz Carlton Fort Lauderdale (FL).

Many Enterprising Women Advisory Board members took time out of their busy schedules to lead workshops and attend our annual Advisory Board meeting. Our fabulous award honorees from throughout the U.S. and around the globe came together for recognition and networking, and the group of young enterprising women (high school girls) who joined us as Enterprising Women Foundation scholarship recipients contributed to making this conference our best ever!

We feature all of our honorees in this issue of the magazine, with profiles and photos to give our readers a snapshot of the amazing women who were selected from among hundreds of nominees to win the prestigious Enterprising Women of the Year Award.

A special thanks to all of those who stepped up this past year to support the Enterprising Women Foundation’s Young Enterprising Women Mentorship Program. We hosted mentoring events to connect outstanding high school girls with an interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) with leading women STEMpreneurs from their cities at events in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Raleigh, Ann Arbor, and Toronto. Scholarship winners were chosen from each of these cities to attend the Enterprising Women of the Year Awards Conference in Florida. The brilliant young women who joined us at our annual conference were an inspiration to all of us!

The girls who attended our California mentoring forums contributed to painting the artwork you see here and we auctioned the painting at the conference with the proceeds benefiting our Foundation. It was exciting that the high bidder was Enterprising Women of the Year Award Winner Pam Du Plessis of Invincible Valves (Pty) Ltd. in Gauteng, South Africa. To know that this beautiful painting will now inspire young women in South Africa makes it even more meaningful.

I am amazed by the stories of our 2017 honorees and so pleased to be able to share them with our readers. I hope you enjoy getting to know them through this issue of the magazine and share our pride in all they have accomplished.

Enjoy this issue!
