NASHVILLE, Tenn., – August 13, 2018 – DevMar Products, LLC, a leading renewable products distribution company, has been certified as a Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The HUBZone program promotes economic development and employment growth in rural and urban communities. Certification enables DevMar Products to compete for additional federal contracting and sole source opportunities. This certification is in addition to DevMar Products’ status as a Woman-Owned Small Business, certified through Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
“DevMar Products was founded in a HUBZone because we believe in the promise of prosperity that it brings to our community while promoting environmental sustainability,” says Sharon Reynolds, president and CEO of DevMar Products, LLC. “Our HUBZone certification means preferred eligibility for federal contracts that will enable our company to grow soundly, remain profitable, and provide advancement opportunities for our dedicated team players—the foundation of our success.”
As a HUBZone certified business, DevMar is eligible to compete for contracts set aside for HUBZone firms and has a 10 percent price evaluation preference in full and open contract competitions as well as subcontracting opportunities. The federal government has a goal of awarding three percent of all dollars for federal prime contracts to HUBZone-certified small businesses each year. DevMar Products’ HUBZone certification process was aided by the SBA and the Nashville Congressional delegation that helped pass legislation expanding employment eligibility criteria.
This certification allows DevMar to become well positioned to create more jobs for Nashville and continue to grow its business. DevMar Products provides sustainable cleaning and safety products to many government agencies including Metro Nashville Airport Authority, Metro Nashville Public Schools (K-12), public colleges and universities as well as correctional facilities.
To become HUBZone certified, a company must be a certified small business with 51 percent ownership by a U.S. citizen and its main office located in a qualified HUBZone, and have at least 35 percent of its staff reside within the HUBZone.
