She holds five master’s degrees as well as a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She is certified in professional studies for Survivors of Violence, Torture and Trauma by the University of Maryland. Rebecca has co-authored multiple research studies related to trauma in the disaster field and has published, written and edited books on breast cancer and international children’s books related to trauma. Passionate about the promotion of volunteerism, community engagement and social justice, she was a founding member of the Headwaters Relief Organization and has responded to disasters internationally in Haiti, the Philippines, Nepal, the refugee crisis for people being served in Greece and Jordan, and the Ebola crisis in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. Headwaters most recent project has been to create and distribute When We All Stayed Home, a coloring book for children that explains COVID-19. The final pages of the book guides parents through common questions children might have and how to answer them, along with various coping techniques for children and adults. She has served on the Enterprising Women Advisory Board and has been a strong supporter of the Minneapolis Young Enterprising Women Mentoring Forum program hosted by the Enterprising Women Foundation. She transformed the company from one small office in Washington to a multinational consulting firm with offices in major cities throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. In 2004, she led a management buyout of her firm, making APCO one of the largest privately owned consulting firms in its field in the world and the largest that is majority women-owned. The recipient of numerous awards, including an induction into the Enterprising Women Hall of Fame in 2009, Margery serves on many institutional and corporate boards and committees. She is chairman of the board of the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) and serves on the international advisory board of Tikehau Capital, the social responsibility advisory board of Univision Communications Corporate. A long-time member of the Enterprising Women Advisory Board, she is a trustee of American University, the Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation, and the Institute for Public Relations. Prior to starting APCO, she assisted in the creation of the Close Up Foundation, a multi-million dollar educational foundation sponsored in part by the US Congress. She co-founded SpaceBound in 1987, transforming it from a small software start-up to an international provider of IT services, solutions and technology products. Since winning the Enterprising Women of the Year Award in 2016, she has more than doubled the size of her company. Patricia served for three years as chair of the Board of Influencers for the World Leaders Group and has been an active participant of the Adopt-a-Platoon campaign for over 15 years. She has mentored through WBENC, Bad Girl Ventures and the Million Women Mentor Program.
