Kathleen Steele, Shonda Scott And Caron Ng To Serve As Board Members For
Women Business Owners’ Publication

RALEIGH, N.C., June XX, 2017 –Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women magazine, has appointed Kathleen Steele, Shonda Scott and Caron Ng to serve on the publication’s advisory board. The board is comprised of a select group of women and men who support the publication and give back to the women business owners’ community by providing leadership, motivation and inspiration to thousands of women entrepreneurs across North America and around the world

Kathleen (Kathy) Steele is the president and founder of Red Caffeine: Marketing + Technology. Red Caffeine, whose clients include Microsoft and Mitsubishi, strategize with visionary companies in order to create original ways for them to step into new markets, release new products and attract talented employees. The importance Steele places on business ethics has allowed her to not only be successful, but to also be highly respected by her employees. Steele balances growing her company with giving back to causes she is passionate about. She is an Executive Breakfast Club Council member, Chicago’s local group leader for the Small Giants Community and a practitioner for the Great Game of Business. Largely due to Steele’s dedication to her community, Red Caffeine has given more than $150,000 in time, skill and monetary donations since 2014.

Shonda Scott has spent 20 years immersed in the business world, with a large focus on empowering women. In 2012, Scott was appointed to the Platform Committee for former President Barack Obama. She then became a member of the White House Council for Women and Girls inaugural committee of community leaders. She is the CEO and owner of 360 Total Concept, a consulting firm based in Oakland, California, that has expanded to include offices in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. In 2016, Scott was named the International Stevie Awards’ Female Entrepreneur of the Year. Scott founded the Pink Access Foundation, a nonprofit that creates awareness and raises funding for organizations that serve cancer survivors in underserved communities.

Caron Ng, an English major from the University of California Berkeley, entered the business world without a personal desire to do so. She was asked to help with her family’s business, NU-SET — a leading custom lock producer. After agreeing to help her family, she decided to dive into the industry. In an effort to become a better business leader, over the past two years Ng has attended the Southern California Gas Supplier Diversity Institute (Mastering Business Growth), University of California Los Angeles Management Development for Entrepreneurs, Toyota Pilot Mentorship Program, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Initiative Management & Education, the Intercity Capital Connection Program and the WBEC West Platinum Supplier Program. She was nominated as “Executive of the Year” at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s annual Women’s Summit and was a finalist for the publication’s 2016 Asian Business Leader award.

All three new board members were recipients of the 2017 Enterprising Women of the Year Award.
