Honoring Pamela Prince-Eason

Enterprising Women celebrated its 25th Anniversary with the panel Looking Back and Looking Forward, highlighting the progress women business leaders have made and the work that remains. Soon after the video was finished, our community experienced a great loss with the sudden passing of Pamela Prince-Eason, President and CEO of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

Pam played a key role in this important conversation, so we took time to honor her life, leadership, and lasting impact on women’s entrepreneurship. The following remembrance is based on reflections from her colleagues, friends, and partners across the national women’s business community.

A Life Defined Mission

Virginia Littlejohn, Chair, 25th Anniversary History Committee

Pamela Prince-Eason’s life was defined by passion, deep love for her family, and a steadfast commitment to making the world a better place. Married for 33 years, she was the proud mother of three daughters and seven grandchildren, lovingly known to them as “Pam Pam.”

Pam’s first and greatest role model was her mother, Betty Jo Prince. For five years, her mother traveled with her to women’s entrepreneurial conferences around the world and even appeared in footage from the Nashville anniversary event.

Pam earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from East Tennessee State University and graduated magna cum laude from Johns Hopkins University with a Master of Administrative Science in International Business and Finance. Before leading WBENC as President and CEO, she served as Board Chair representing Pfizer and then guided WBENC through more than a decade of growth and impact.

Her authenticity was one of her most valued qualities. She brought energy, humor, heart, and a warm smile to everything she did.

“Pamela’s life was defined by purpose, passion, and authenticity. Her radiant smile and unwavering commitment to making the world a better place touched everyone who knew her.”

A Force of Nature and Compassion in Motion

Edie Fraser, Enterprising Women Foundation

Pam Eason was a force of nature, an advocate driven by purpose and a strong belief in connection. She was the ultimate matchmaker, bringing entrepreneurs and corporations together in business, friendship, and life.

Pam always credited others for their success, showing her deep humility and grace. She was also one of the most compassionate caregivers many of us have known, showing up in times of crisis, responding to natural disasters, and offering comfort and help wherever it was needed.

She once said:

“Use your voice. It is no longer acceptable for a leader to stand on the sidelines or remain silent on matters of great importance.”

Her legacy continues in every collaboration, every opportunity created, and every joyful dance she would have wanted us to keep enjoying.

A Visionary Light for the Ecosystem

Jen Earle, National Association of Women Business Owners

The anniversary video captured something deeply meaningful: women leaders connected by mission, partnership, and shared purpose. Honoring Pam in that moment showed just how much she meant to all of us.

Pam was a visionary, a friend, and a steady light. She lifted our whole community through her leadership, generosity, and joy. In her honor, we move forward by lifting women, building bridges, and leading with heart.

“Pam was a visionary and a constant light for so many of us. In her honor, we move forward—lifting women, building bridges, and leading with heart.”

Leading with Heart, Humor, and Inclusivity

Camille Burns, Women Presidents Organization

Pam led WBENC with vision, integrity, and heart. She changed the landscape for women business owners, not only through growth and visibility, but also by championing women from every background and making the organization more inclusive.

Anyone who spoke on stage with Pam in the audience remembers her encouragement. She made people feel seen, supported, and confident.

“Pam led with vision, integrity, and heart, transforming the landscape for women business owners. Her warmth, humor, and authenticity brought our entire ecosystem together.”

Moving Forward, Not Moving On

Laura Taylor, WBENC

Pam served WBENC for over 13 years as CEO, guiding the organization to new growth and influence. She was a visionary leader and a valued friend. We move forward—carrying her spirit, her purpose, and her passion with us.

“Pam’s leadership and friendship shaped WBENC and inspired us all. She would want us not to ‘move on,’ but to move forward—carrying her purpose and passion in everything we do.”

Making the Tent Bigger

Sima Ladjevardian, Women's Entrepreneurship Institute

Pam never said no. She showed up—with vision, compassion, and care. She understood that progress only happens when we make the tent bigger and lift one another higher.

“Pam never said no—she always showed up with vision, compassion, and care. She understood that our greatest strength comes from collaboration.”

A Foundation That Endures

Linda Denny, Former WBENC CEO

Pam brought optimism, humility, and extraordinary leadership to every role she held. She built a foundation of strength and collaboration that continues to guide WBENC today.

“Pam brought energy, optimism, and grace to every role she held. She built a foundation of strength and vision that continues to inspire and guide WBENC today.”

Architect of Opportunity, Champion of Women

Angela Dingle, Women Impacting Public Policy

Pamela Prince-Eason was an architect of opportunity—bridging policy and procurement, ambition and achievement. Under her leadership, WBENC became not just a certification organization, but a powerful engine for preparation, performance, and possibility.

Pam taught us that progress is a relay, not a solo sprint. She ran her leg with speed, grace, and grit. Now the baton is in our hands.

“Pamela Prince-Eason built bridges—between ambition and achievement, policy and procurement, preparation and performance. For that, and for the countless ways she changed lives, we say: thank you, Pam.”

Editor’s Note

The sudden passing of Pamela Prince-Eason in June deeply shocked and saddened the national women’s business community. Inducted into the Enterprising Women Hall of Fame in 2018, Pam served on the Enterprising Women Advisory Board for 14 years and was a loyal friend and champion of our mission.

While it is difficult to imagine anyone filling her shoes, we know Pam’s greatest wish would be for all of us to continue the work—to support women entrepreneurs with renewed purpose and collaboration.
