Rivers, LuzElena

Born in Colombia, she crossed the border into the US and was thrust into a new environment where she had to adapt to a different culture and language to succeed.

Today, LuzElena is the CEO of Amera Solutions, known as the innovative "Uber" nurse of ambulatory medical transportation. Amera provides post-anesthesia patients with safe and reliable transportation by nurses since rideshare services are not viable. The company's slogan, "It's not ride-sharing, it's ride caring," was coined because of the initiative to provide a necessary service for millions of Americans.

Despite Amera's rapid success, LuzElena faced years of rejection from banks before taking matters into her own hands and self-funding her company. In 2022, LuzElena’s corporation developed the cutting-edge Amera App, allowing clients to access their services conveniently from a straightforward and easy-to-use smartphone application.

LuzElena has received numerous awards, including being named a Top 10 Executive of the Year by LATINA Style Magazine in 2021. She was also recognized by Forbes and received the 1000 Next award. In 2022, Houston Business Journal named her "Most Admired CEO" and "Women Who Mean Business" 3 months later. She was named Enterprising Woman of the Year and featured on the Global magazine cover. In 2023, LuzElena received the "Entrepreneurial Woman of Impact" award from WPO, a global organization for women earning revenues ranging from 3 million to 1 billion. She's an honoree of the 100 Women to Know in America list. Recently, her company made it to the Inc 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in the US. Univision's national broadcast Despierta America featured her story, similar to Good Morning America. Additionally, she chairs the Young Enterprising Women Mentoring Forum in Houston, Texas, promoting STEM careers in local high schools and raising funds for scholarships for young women. She is an alumna of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, the Stanford University LBAN Entrepreneurship Program, and the Harvard Business School program- WPO Leading Business and Personal Transitions.

LuzElena is involved with several impactful organizations and is the founder and President of the nonprofit Rivers for Health Foundation (501c3).

The NBA Houston Rockets recognized her contribution to a loyal fan with limited funds who required medical transportation services.

LuzElena is a dedicated learner with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and an MBA. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctoral degree. Her accomplishments include being among the 3% of women-owned businesses that earn over $1 million and being part of the exclusive 1% of women who share this achievement in the health tech industry and as a Latina Entrepreneur.
